Sausage Gravy
1 lb. bulk pork sausage
1/2-3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
5-6 c. milk
Warm Biscuits
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink; drain if necessary. Stir in flour, butter, salt, and pepper; cook and stir until butter is melted. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; boil and stir for 2 minutes. Serve over biscuits. Serves 8.
Buttermilk Biscuits
3 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 egg
2-4 tbsp. water
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in buttermilk and egg; add enough water to bowl to just form a dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured board. Flatten dough to 1 - 1 1/2 inches thick. Cut biscuits with a biscuit cutter or knife. Place biscuits side by side, touching on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 425* for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
*I love biscuits and gravy! I don't eat it often and this was my first attempt at making it. We loved it! the biscuits are absolutely delicious - so flavorful and flakey. The gravy was very tasty as well. The gravy recipe came from my Best of Country Cooking Cookbook, and biscuit recipe came from Deals to Meals (thank you pinterest!).
